“Urban Village story” wins 10.000USD at PGI2018

Philanthropy for Green Ideas 2018 – Regional Competition

Balkan Green Foundation (BGF) organized annual regional competition of the Philanthropy for Green Ideas in Mavrovo, Macedonia. This year, the competition which gathers representatives from countries of the Western Balkans, provided them with the opportunity to present their green and innovative ideas.

This year, BGF awarded three prices of up to $10,000 for project implementation, where this year’s winners are: 1st place: Andi Krasniqi, “Green Aid”, 2nd place: Darko Saveljic, “Urban Village story” and 3rd place: Majlinda Avdiu, “Super Xhem.” The winners were selected by an independent, international jury comprised of experts in various fields.

By exploring the role of philanthropy, Philanthropy for Green Ideas provides suitable development opportunities for ambitious entrepreneurs within the Western Balkans in generating green business ideas – hereby, encouraging innovation and joint progression.  Moreover, PGI explores the role of philanthropy in engaging local communities to generate green business ideas that utilize local resources and revitalize disappearing traditional production chains and community-based markets.

Over the years, PGI has strongly supported the initiation and the development of more than 20 successful business ideas – which continue to thrive and be in quest for incremental growth on the local, and regional level, as well.

Philanthropy for Green Ideas is a project of the Balkan Green Foundation, supported by Rockefeller Brothers Fund’s Western Balkans Program.
