A training program to children with disabilities organized in Podgorica

Fund for Active Citizenship – fAKT during last weekend (30th and 31st March, 2012) organized two-day training for civil society organizations through the Social inclusion support program to children with disabilities. This program has been realized with support of the State Lottery Fund (Fund from taxes on games of chance) and Co-operating Netherlands Foundations for Central and Eastern Europe (CEE CNF).

The focus of the program is peer volunteer support to vulnerable groups, especially to children and youth with disabilities. The program is intended to parental associations of children with disabilities, and to organizations of persons with disabilities.

Training included 12 organizations with objective to strengthen its capacities for the establishment and development of inclusive support services to children with disabilities, altogether with perceiving the very service of peer volunteer support.

Following twelve (12) organizations had an opportunity to learn more about concepts of support methods to children with disabilities and how to successfully apply the model of peer volunteer support for this target group: Psychological Center ABC (Niksic), Unburden a life of children with special needs (Rozaje), Association of Youth with Disabilities (Niksic), European House (Tivat), Association of persons of impaired hearing – “Nice gesture” (Tivat), UZDP (Niksic), Association of Deaf (Pljevlja), Morakovo (Niksic), Sunbeam (Herceg Novi), East (Niksic), Association of parents of children with disabilities (Ulcinj) and Inclusion (Pljevlja).

Out of above mentioned 12 organizations that have attended the training, six will be financially supported to apply this model in their local communities.
